PSAT

PSAT/NMSQT in the Fall

This year (2020-2021) the PSAT will be administered to juniors only on Saturday, October 17th at 8 am.  Students should register using the link to Total Registration that was sent in a recent email and is available on the school counseling page as well.

The Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) is a program co-sponsored by the College Board and National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC). It's a standardized test that provides practice for the SAT®. It also gives students a chance to enter NMSC scholarship programs and gain access to college and career planning tools.

The PSAT/NMSQT measures critical reading skills, math problem-solving skills, and writing skills. Students have developed these skills over many years, both in and out of school.

Taking the PSAT will help students prepare for the SAT.  They can become familiar with the kinds of questions as well as the format and directions you will see on the SAT.  Students will receive information from colleges if they check "yes" to Student Search Service when taking the PSAT.

The College Board and Khan Academy websites provide helpful tools and practice for preparing for these standardized assessments.   The Khan Academy website asks for a donation but making one is not necessary to use the website.
