Middle School Art: 

Grade 6 Art Description: The grade 6 art curriculum will center around the Elements of Art and Principles of Design. There will also be components of Art History connected with the Social Studies curriculum. The grade 6 art curriculum will expose students to a wide variety of materials from pencil, paint, clay, and plaster. 

Grade 7 Visual Art Description: Grade 7 Visual Art is a culturally-based curriculum centered on the Elements of Art and Principles of Design. By using a wide variety of materials, students work on design elements creating two-dimensional and three-dimensional projects. The class will also study Art History and be involved in a virtual art tour around the world. A sketchbook journal is required of each student to participate in this class. 

Grade 8 Visual Art Description: The grade 8 curriculum adequately prepares the art student for high school Art Foundations. The human form, one and two point perspective, positive and negative, still life drawing and painting, color values and understanding design elements and principles, balance, rhythm, unity, value, emphasis, pattern, movement and contrast. The grade 8 curriculum has a strong focus on art criticism and viewing and discussing art from the renaissance to modern art period.
